About the Event

Join Valerie at Sacred Roots for in-person Yoga Nidra! In this workshop, Valerie will be giving an overview of the practice of yoga nidra and its purpose and benefits, followed by a 45-minute guided yoga nidra session.

What is yoga nidra? Yoga nidra is a conscious state of deep relaxation and awareness. In this state, we are given access to restore our abilities to heal by reducing stress and bringing a newfound sense of clarity and calm. In Sanskrit, nidra means sleep. However, yoga nidra is distinct from sleeping, dreaming, or even meditation. Practiced regularly, it is not only restorative but can be deeply transformative as well. Done lying down with ample cushioning and support, this practice is quite different from your typical yoga asana class!

What have people said about the experience? "I can't believe how quickly time passed, as I completely lost track while I was being guided deeper into the meditative state by her soothing voice. All the stress and fatigue I'd been feeling from changes in my life were lifted completely as I reached an utterly peaceful state; I no longer felt like anything was wrong! So I honestly couldn't have had a better experience" - Vikash J.

What do I need to prepare? Prepare your session with a yoga mat or comfortable surface to lie on, as well as a pillow and blanket (optional). You may want to bring extra bolsters if you need back or knee support.
